The Yellowhead Jawfish is an extremely unique fish, due to their beautiful colorations and interesting behavior. They are known for burrowing and being "mouth brooders," where the males will hold the eggs in his mouth. When planning a display with this jawfish, be sure to use a few inches of mixed grain sand, as this will give them enough depth to burrow, and a more secure final structure. Before adding them into the aquarium, make sure that all rocks are securely rested on the bottom of the tank and not just on the sand. Because they are generally busy working on the sand bed, target feeding is recommended to keep them from missing meals. Multiple Yellowheads can be added to the aquarium as long as it is large enough. This will make a unique display with their heads popping out of their burrows at different times. This little guy has an adult size of 4" and are a great addition to smaller aquariums. They have a pearly colored body and a yellow head.
